Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

Please reach out via the contact form, email, or phone to schedule a brief consultation to determine if this is the right time for treatment or if I'm the right fit. If you choose to work with me, we will schedule an intake appointment, which will allow me to gain a better understanding of your child or adolescent's current functioning, concerns, and needs. The initial assessment allows me to determine the best course of treatment. Ongoing therapy appointments are typically 45-50 minutes and occur either on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

How long does therapy take?

Everyone's mental health journey is unique. The length of treatment depends on many factors, such as symptom severity, engagement in treatment, and age. While therapy can be brief, it often can be a slow, gradual process. Open communication is vital to the success of therapy, and I encourage you to share any concerns that may arise during the treatment process.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an in-network with Wellmark BCBS. Please check with your insurance provider about your specific mental health benefits prior to starting services. I'm happy to provide you with a list of questions to determine your eligibility. Please note that insurance typically requires a mental health diagnosis that warrants "medical necessity" for treatment. This diagnosis becomes part of your medical record. If you do not meet the criteria for a mental health diagnosis, or do not wish to have a diagnosis included in your medical record, you will need to pay out of pocket. If you are choosing to pay out of pocket, payment is due at the time of service. If your insurance provides out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a monthly invoice ("superbill") that you may submit for reimbursement. You may also choose to pay for sessions by using your flexible health savings account.

How much does therapy cost?

Intake appointments are $235 and subsequent therapy sessions are $205. I have a 24 hour cancellation policy, meaning there is a $100 charge for appointments that are cancelled or missed without a 24 hour notice.

What is your availability?

I am in the office Monday-Thursday from 9am-5pm. I will do my best to accommodate your schedule and find an appointment time that works best for you. However, please note that after-school appointments are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis.

Do you offer telehealth?

I am able to provide in-person and telehealth appointments to anyone residing in the state of Iowa. I'm also able to provide telehealth appointments to anyone residing in the state of Oregon.
